The Assistant Manager, Project Engineering is responsible for delivering comprehensive technical support across all project phases, with a key focus on the execution and completion of Engineering, Procurement, Installation, Pre-Commissioning, and handover deliverables. The role ensures seamless coordination among all project interfaces and disciplines, driving timely, cost-effective, and compliant design delivery in accordance with project goals, contractual requirements, and industry best practices. The position may also serve as the Project Manager's delegate during periods of absence.
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum of 12 years' experience in project engineering and design development within power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience at the electrical engineering discipline head level.
Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, including grid integration, system interfaces, and technical dependencies.
Experience in renewable energy projects is an added advantage.
Proven experience managing power projects on behalf of a client or asset owner, preferably within the Middle East region.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects subject to stringent government regulatory approvals.
Membership in a recognized project management institution is considered advantageous.
Demonstrated mastery-level proficiency in all project management lifecycle stages, including initiation, feasibility studies, concept development and optimization, engineering definition, construction, operational readiness, commissioning, and project close-out.
Familiarity with GCOC requirements and the legal framework for managing contractual scopes of work.
Proficiency in project management tools and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong capability in managing project budgets, schedules, and contractual obligations.
Ability to analyze complex project challenges and lead the development of effective solutions.
Excellent communication, reporting, presentation, and team-building skills, including the ability to facilitate and manage meetings effectively.
Educational Qualifications
Degree in Engineering from a recognized university. Master's degree will be preferred.
