The Senior Manager, Production Engineering is a people leader and technical expert, responsible for the seamless delivery and innovation of live and pre-recorded content at PGA TOUR Studios. This role drives operational excellence, leads a high-performing engineering team, and deliver future-ready solutions that directly impact audience experience and business growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a technical field, technical school, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of broadcast engineering experience, including live production in medium to large media or remote facilities.
Proven track record in a team management role, with experience building and managing small, high-performing engineering teams.
Advanced knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in SMPTE 2110 standards and workflows
Subject matter expertise in multiple domains, e.g. video switchers, audio consoles, intercoms, replay devices, graphics systems, KVM, video cameras, LED walls, and encoding/decoding systems.
Strong project management and communication skills.
Customer service mindset with a positive, adaptable attitude.
Preferred: AWS/cloud certifications; experience with remote workflows, AI-driven automation, and post-production support a plus.
Networking background and certifications welcomed.
Passion for golf and sports broadcasting a plus.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of production engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Provide budget inputs, track actuals vs. plan, and deliver to agreed cost/quality/schedule.
Assist in departmental operations including staffing, budgeting, internal communications, and professional development initiatives.
Partner cross-functionally with Production, Tech Ops, Remote Operations, IT, Creative Services, TOC, and NOC teams to enhance workflows and develop solutions for new productions.
Liaise with internal and external clients, managing requests and projects from intake to completion.
Design, implement, and maintain advanced broadcast systems (SMPTE 2110, IT-based technologies) across studio and remote environments.
Provide tier-one, two and three engineering support, as needed, for internal and external clients, ensuring rapid issue resolution and system reliability.
Evaluate, recommend, and integrate emerging technologies (IP-based production, remote workflows, AI-driven automation) to drive innovation and efficiency.
Drive the adoption of modern engineering tools and practices.
Oversee studio operations including LED walls, AR/XR video processing, robotic cameras, lighting systems, and other production technologies.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and audit trails for engineering processes.
Ensure all production systems meet industry standards for safety, compliance, and data security.
Deliver to agreed-upon KPIs and SLAs for system reliability, quality, and cost efficiency.
Support live events, studio operations, and remote productions as needed.
Participate in on-call rotation outside of production schedule; flexibility in shift work required (weekends, holidays, evenings, nights).
