Description

The City of Tallahassee Growth Management Department is hiring a full time Engineering Technician IV.  Responsibilities include daily environmental inspections of construction sites to confirm compliance with issued land development permits and regular coordination as needed with contractors, engineers, sediment control officers, and the general public.  The position involves a mixture of regular field inspections and in office review for pre-construction meetings and project close-outs for site work.  Candidates should have the ability to: read and interpret construction drawings, design and implement stormwater erosion and sediment control BMPs, understand various components and types of stormwater management facilities, have knowledge about local trees, manage multiple projects with associated deadlines, and have good verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

Minimum training and experience is an associate’s degree in civil engineering, civil engineering technology or drafting and design and four years of technical engineering experience that includes computer aided drafting or surveying, or four years of technical engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
