Icon Water’s Infrastructure Services Management Team requires a proactive and collaborative Engineering Services Manager to lead the organisation’s Engineering Services Team. Using your strong people and leadership skills, and your technical knowledge, you will be responsible for developing and implementing processes that manage the integrity of Icon Water’s assets.

You will be responsible for leading the Engineering Services team who are accountable for the engineering standards and systems that support the business, with technical risk management and assurance. You will connect with the organisation across the whole asset lifecycle, with a particular focus on longer term planning and performance.

As the Manager Engineering Services, you will:

  • Lead the Engineering Services Team in achieving organisational strategic objectives, providing strategic direction and improvement opportunities with broader business initiatives
  • Share your expert knowledge with the Engineering Services Team in ensuring existing assets comply with approved standards and processes, that assets are regularly reviewed, and that proposed assets and designs are reviewed and checked
  • Define and manage performance expectations for the Engineering Services Team, taking actions to address performance issues and supporting improved performance as needed
  • Provide expert discipline advice within your area of expertise to oversee a range of organisational activities, such as interpreting and applying approved standards, and when to approve/reject requests that deviate from these standards
  • Use your strong communication and negotiation skills to successfully manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Use your strong attention to detail and analytical skills to manage branch capacity and capability requirements, including developing succession pipelines for critical organisational roles through talent review processes, as well as developing and monitoring budgets

To be successful for this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in an engineering and/or asset management discipline
  • Extensive Asset Management planning experience and demonstrated understanding of ISO 55000 and its application
  • At least 10 years’ experience managing a highly skilled workforce in a commercial and high reliability organisation
  • Experience in leading and developing a professional team and in communicating with a range of various stakeholders in a complex and technically innovative organisation
  • Experience in preparing and presenting complex business information to a diverse audience
  • Experience in financial management of a business unit, complemented with skills in financial analysis and budget management
  • Demonstrable abilities in establishing, maintaining, and improving management systems, complemented with skills and knowledge related to risk analysis methods
  • A working knowledge of the regulatory and legislative requirements relating to water and sewerage utilities
