Position Summary:
CVS Health is seeking a visionary and results-driven Lead Director of Quality Engineering to lead our enterprise-wide quality strategy across digital platforms. This role will be instrumental in driving innovation in test automation, AI-powered quality solutions, and engineering excellence to ensure our products meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
You will lead a team of business analysts and quality engineers, collaborating closely with product, development, and operations teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise and a passion for transforming quality engineering through modern practices and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
Define and execute the enterprise quality engineering strategy aligned with CVS Health's digital transformation goals.
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of business analysts, quality engineers and automation specialists.
Champion a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and innovation across engineering teams.
Quality Assurance & Governance
Establish and enforce quality standards, metrics, and best practices across all digital products.
Drive shift-left testing practices and integrate quality early in the development lifecycle.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards in healthcare and retail domains.
Define KPIs such as defect density, automation ROI, and release velocity.
Build executive dashboards for quality insights and decision-making.
Test Automation & Tooling
Implement test automation frameworks for web, API, and cloud backend systems.
Evaluate and implement modern tools and platforms for CI/CD, test management, and defect tracking.
Promote reusable test assets and automation coverage across teams.
AI Integration & Innovation
Leverage AI/ML to enhance test coverage, predictive defect analysis, and intelligent test generation.
Explore and implement AI-driven quality solutions such as autonomous testing and anomaly detection using platforms such as AWS Sagemaker
Collaborate with data science and platform teams to integrate AI into quality workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering, product, and DevOps leaders to align quality goals with business outcomes.
Influence senior stakeholders and communicate quality metrics and insights effectively.
Business Analyst Leadership
Guide Business Analysts in requirements engineering using tools such as Confluence, Jama.
Knowledgeable about using Big Data techniques to drive advanced analytics; Oversee data analysis and reporting with SQL, Quicksight/Tableau/Power BI.
Strong business acumen and attention to detail with a consistent record of delivering results
Facilitate cross-functional workshops with collaboration tools like Miro, Lucidchart.
Strong project management skills, Ability to prioritize projects against clear and important business objectives.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
Proven track record of leading enterprise test automation initiatives.
Hands-on experience with automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their application in software testing.
Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and cloud-native development practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or retail technology domains.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, PCI, etc.).
Exposure to AI platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, Azure ML, or similar) in a quality engineering context.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
