Position Summary
Perform a range of technical/engineering assignments as the lead or as a member of a technical support team on complex assignments. Generally, functions in the following activities: engineering design packages for replacement of in-kind equipment, designs to address maintenance needs, construction inspections, general space management plans, infrastructure alterations, infrastructure management, specialty engineering services, and project management.
Responsibilities:
- Performs a range of mechanical/civil engineering design, development, analysis, or review tasks independently.
- Provides facility engineering design drawings, statement of work bid packages, and detailed project cost estimates.
- Acts as a lead on complex tasks and is responsible for AutoCAD design drawings, conducts thorough scope of work analyses, and provides detailed design reviews.
- Generates complete design specifications for complex projects.
- Completes design calculations for civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, etc.
- Understands the construction process and provides construction management services.
- Ensures compliance with established standards, methods, and techniques within the discipline.
- Provides technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements.
- Establishes and maintains a filing system, databases, and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
- Conducts site visits, experimental investigations, and analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations.
- Creates as-built drawings.
- Coordinates contractor on-site visits.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field; Vocational/ Technical school or Associate's degree.
- Must have five (5) years of job-related experience in facilities engineering or a related field and design.
- Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
- Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to a nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by the contract
- United States citizenship is required to work on a federal contract and will be electronically verified via E-Verify
Physical Requirements:
Most positions involve work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
