The Center for Engineering in Medicine & Surgery (CEMS) at Massachusetts General Hospital are the ambassadors of bioengineering, bringing technology to the forefront of biomedical research and the practice of medicine. At the CEMS, the development of biopreservation technologies for the long-term stabilization of cells, tissues, organs and whole organisms are currently in progress. To accomplish our goals, we collaborate with multiple investigators both within and outside the institution.
An Instructor at CEMS will oversee the development of novel biopreservation procedures. This position also offers eligibility for an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor.
Job Description:
- Develop computational models to characterize the cooling and rewarming process in biological specimens.
- Develop and validate novel assays and biomarkers to assess cryopreservation outcome.
- Design and prototype devices to assist with automation of cryopreservation procedures.
- Conduct independent research on cryopreservation procedures, supported by research grants.
- Provide mentorship and training to research fellows at CEMS.
Requirements: PhD degree
Credentials:
- Postdoctoral research experience >3 years.
- Deep knowledge in cryobiology and computational modeling of heat transfer.
- Familiar with various biological assays to assess cryopreservation outcome.
