Overview
Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on figuring out how things work—and making them work even better? Lutron Electronics is seeking a driven Engineering Technician to join our growing automated window shade facility in Ashland, VA on 1st shift. As a key member of our Engineering team, you'll jump into a fast-paced manufacturing environment where innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement are at the core of what we do.
You'll work across multiple departments to keep production running smoothly—troubleshooting equipment, modifying machine programs, identifying root causes to quality or process issues, and driving solutions that make a real impact on safety, efficiency, and delivery. You'll also support new product introductions, helping bring new ideas from concept to full-scale production.
In this role, you will think critically, work collaboratively, and see the direct impact of your contributions every day. You will have the opportunity to build deep technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, and computer systems while solving complex, real-world challenges. Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing engineering support in the facility related to execution of customer orders
- Support and lead Engineering team initiatives with all production and process-improvement related tasks
- Build, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve product- and process-related tools, equipment, and systems
- Work in our computer systems to access, reference, create, edit, and manage appropriate documentation
- Perform light mechanical and electrical assembly
- Work with other functional teams (Safety, Quality, Materials, Operations, etc.) to complete improvement projects
- Additional technical work as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical field with a minimum GPA of 3.00
- 3+ years experience as technical resource in manufacturing environment preferred
- Demonstrated history of individual and collaborative problem solving
- Ability to work 1st shift (Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm)
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Experience with power tools preferred
- Strong ability to work independently and communicate effectively
