POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This entry-level position is focused on managing and supporting technical projects related to instrumentation development and mission support at White Sands Missile Range. The role involves preparing 2D and 3D mechanical drawings to support a variety of tasks, including test site preparation, structural design, HVAC and electrical systems, as well as the fabrication of components and test articles. Responsibilities also include researching, designing, developing, estimating, scheduling, testing, troubleshooting, and integrating mechanical and structural components to meet the technical requirements of diverse engineering projects. This is an exempt position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering, or physics, from an accredited institution. Proficiency in technical drawing software is required, with the ability to efficiently create 3D mechanical drawings. A valid driver's license is also required. The selected candidate will undergo a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Qualifications:
A graduate degree in engineering, with a focus on mechanical engineering, is preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform independent engineering and mathematical analysis of mechanical designs, including stress/strain analysis, failure mode prediction, heat transfer calculations, and finite element analysis (FEA). Hands-on experience with materials selection, mechanical component design, fabrication techniques, and the assembly and testing of mechanical components and final products is highly desired. Experience with project management and familiarity with Systems Engineering best practices would be a plus. Knowledge of industry codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC), National Electrical Code (NEC), ASME standards, and OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations, is also preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Test and Evaluation programs and mission support activities is a plus.
