Job Summary
We are seeking an RF Test Engineer to support the development, execution, and qualification of radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test activities in a secure test environment. This role focuses on designing and executing RF/EMC test procedures to qualify systems against industry, federal, and military standards, while ensuring compliance with FCC and FAA regulations. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with RF systems, electromagnetics, EMC testing, and RF test equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute RF and EMC test, characterization, and qualification procedures in accordance with industry (e.g., IEEE, IEC), federal (e.g., FCC, FAA), and defense (e.g., MIL-STD) standards
Contribute to the design and development of RF, EM, and EMC testing capabilities, including anechoic test facilities and large-scale test platforms
Operate, calibrate, and maintain RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and power meters
Perform RF and EM/EMC measurements including S-parameters, shielding effectiveness, and electromagnetic vulnerability testing
Manage and coordinate RF spectrum usage for operational systems
Maintain accurate records of frequency assignments, licenses, and operational parameters
Develop and implement spectrum management policies and procedures tailored to operational environments
Present technical test plans, reports, and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Demonstrated experience developing and executing RF system test plans
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief diverse audiences
Desired Qualifications
Experience applying RF/EMC standards such as IEEE C63.x, IEC 61000-4, FCC Part 15/87, FAA/RTCA DO-160, and MIL-STD-461/464
Hands-on experience with RF compliance, spectrum authorization, and qualification testing to industry, federal, and defense standards
Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
