Description
Position: Special Inspector / Senior Engineering Technician (CMT)
Locations: Charleston, SC; Fort Mill, SC; Concord, NC
ESP Associates, Inc. (ESP) is seeking a Special Inspector / Senior Engineering Technician (CMT) to perform inspection and testing services related to, but not limited to: soils, foundations, retaining walls, reinforced concrete, structural masonry, fireproofing and post-tensioned concrete.
Responsibilities:
- Review and understand project related drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes
- Perform Special Inspections in the field for project document and code compliance
- Perform routine and advanced field tests in accordance with ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, DOT or other standards
- Document observations and inspections of construction including discrepancy notices for non-compliant items
- Communicate effectively with ESP project staff and project construction team
- Report inspections and test results through ESP’s field data collection software
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or Associate Degree required
- Experience in inspection and construction testing of soil, concrete, masonry and/or asphalt materials preferred
- ACI Field Grade I Certification, preferred, or ability to obtain within 1 year
- ICC Certifications, preferred, any or all of the following:
o ICC Soils
o ICC Reinforced Concrete
o ICC Structural Masonry
o ICC Spray-Applied Fireproofing
o ICC Structural Steel and Bolting
- NICET Certifications and/or Post Tension Institute (PTI) Level I or II certifications will be considered beneficial in the role
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to work in varied weather conditions
- Occasional overnight hours and/or travel for work
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
