The Engineering Supervisor assists the Engineering Manager in overseeing, managing, and supporting the Southwest Range Services engineering staff and associated technical projects, which involve instrumentation development and mission support. These projects focus on DC power/plant systems and operations, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and operations, and Optical Tracking Systems and operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end workflow for mission support activities, from planning and resource allocation to final quality control. The Engineering Supervisor directly supports the Engineering Department Manager with both technical and administrative functions, team supervision, project execution, and the management and enforcement of administrative functions, deadlines, tasks, and quality standards, ensuring the efficient, on-time completion of all work requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a combination of engineering and technical teams, managing work schedules and assignments while ensuring adherence to safety and workplace policies and supporting the professional development of team members. The Engineering Supervisor is also responsible for developing detailed production plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies, as well as initiating, processing, monitoring, documenting, and completing work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), assigning tasks to appropriate personnel and shops. The Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for government Test Officers, Government Points of Contact (GPOCs), and internal departments, processing work requirements and providing status updates. In addition, the role involves providing the Engineering Department Manager with daily monitoring and follow-up to ensure the timely execution of projects, work requests, change order tasks, and assisting with all reporting requirements and data calls. Other responsibilities include researching, specifying, and procuring parts, supplies, and materials needed for maintenance and operations, writing and submitting purchase requisitions with detailed justifications, implementing and enforcing quality control measures through internal and external audits, and documenting all quality assurance activities while analyzing data to identify and drive process improvements.
Graduation from a two-year course at a technical institute and a minimum of three years of progressive experience in supervising engineering tasks, resourcing, scheduling, and quality control. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience managing maintenance activities with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Knowledge and familiarity with the military Test and Evaluation (T&E) environment is also essential. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance is mandatory.
Desired qualifications
Familiarity with WSMR, Department of Defense (DoD) Test and Evaluation programs, and mission support activities, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field.
